What to Bring

The following information includes what to bring to residential treatment at Valley Recovery Center.

Personal Belongings

  • Identification card or Birth Certificate
  • Insurance card (if applicable)
  • One large suitcase containing clothes and undergarments for approximately one week, including jackets and other seasonally appropriate clothing, gym clothing, yoga clothing, robe.
  • One quart sized zip locked bag containing cosmetics
  • One gallon sized zip locked bag containing toiletries
  • Money to spend at outings or for essential items from the store

Items with check out use (these items will be stored in bins at the Wellness Stations):

  • Disposable safety razors (must be stored in plastic bag)
  • Cosmetic Scissors
  • Hair dryers
  • Curling Irons/Straightening irons
  • Bottles of cologne/perfume
  • Mirrors
  • Clippers/files
  • Sewing equipment
  • I-Pods or MP3 players for gym and personal time.
  • Lighters

Items to leave at home:

  • Illegal drug or substances of abuse, drug using paraphernalia
  • Any alcoholic beverage or products containing alcohol, including mouth wash and hand sanitizer. Mouthwash containing alcohol will be disposed of upon admission
  • Any “sharp” or other dangerous objects (i.e. razor blades, glass picture frames, vases, syringes, etc.)
  • Cameras, camcorders, laptops, tablets, notebooks
  • T-shirts with sexually explicit, violent themes, or alcohol/drug references
  • Weapons
  • Irons, fans or heaters, heating pads, electric blankets
  • Food items
  • Wire coat hangers
  • Aerosol cans
  • Laundry detergent, bleach, fabric softener, dryer sheets
  • Extension cords
  • Any other potentially dangerous substance or device deemed unsafe by staff
  • Outside reading material, unless spiritual or self help material.
  • Personal linen, pillows, stuffed animals
  • Technology, including cell phones. Please write down phone numbers prior to arriving at treatment
